CARBON / LEGAL INFORMATION

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This English version is a translation provided for convenience. If it differs from the French version (politique de confidentialité), the French version prevails.

In one sentence: Your collection is stored on your iPhone, documents and reminders included. Carbon does not send it to the Publisher and does not sell your data.

Carbon is a car collection app built on a simple principle: your data stays on your device. This policy describes what the app stores, where, and the rights you have.

1. Stored data

All the information you enter in Carbon (vehicles, photos, purchase prices, mileage, due dates, documents, logbook moments, preferences, distinctions and Spec Battle history) is stored locally on your iPhone. The Publisher does not receive this data. If you use the sharing or export features, you choose the recipient yourself.

2. No collection, no tracking

  • Carbon contains no analytics tool, no advertising SDK and no tracker.
  • Carbon does not create a user account and asks for neither an email address nor a login.
  • Carbon does not access your location.

3. Photos, camera and documents

The camera and the photo library are used only at your request: to attach photos to your vehicles and to the moments in their logbook, and to scan or import their documents (registration, insurance certificate, invoices…). A scanned document is saved as a PDF; an imported document comes from Photos (an image) or from Files (a PDF or an image).

Photos and documents are copied into the app’s local database and are not sent to the Publisher. In Private Mode, document thumbnails are blurred. Carbon only writes to your photo library to save an image you ask it to save, such as My Card. A share you start, or an iOS backup, may create a copy at your request.

4. Face ID

If you turn on the lock, Face ID / Touch ID authentication is handled entirely by iOS. Carbon receives only a result (success or failure) and never has access to your biometric data.

5. Notifications

Due date reminders and distinction notifications are local notifications, scheduled on the iPhone. No remote notification service is used. Carbon asks for permission when it is first needed, never at launch, and you can withdraw it in the iOS settings. In Private Mode or with the Face ID lock on, a reminder stays generic: it names neither the car nor the due date.

6. Premium subscription

The Carbon Premium subscription is processed by the App Store (Apple). Carbon has no access to your payment information. You manage and cancel it in your App Store account settings. The applicable terms of use are Apple’s standard EULA; see also our terms and conditions.

7. Your rights

As your data is stored only on your device, you have full control over it: deleting the app deletes all the data it contains. It is also included in your iPhone’s normal backup (iCloud or computer), which you control from the iOS settings.

8. Backups and Apple services

Carbon does not sync the collection between devices. General iPhone backups, to iCloud or to a computer, depend on your settings and on Apple’s services. Whether they are available and can be restored depends on there being a backup that contains the data. Restoring a Premium purchase does not restore the collection.

The exchanges needed for the App Store and for checking a subscription are handled with Apple’s services. See Apple’s privacy policy.

9. Website and support

The Carbon website’s code includes no analytics or advertising tool. The technical data processed by the host is described in the legal notice (in French).

If you contact support, the Publisher receives your email address, the content of your message and any attachments you choose to send. This information is used to handle your request; it is not used for advertising.

Data controller: the Publisher of Carbon, who can be reached at contact@carbonapp.eu. Legal basis, depending on the request: performance of the contract for support relating to the service, or legitimate interest in answering general enquiries. Retention: support exchanges are deleted no later than twelve months after the last message of the request. Email provider: OVH SAS (2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France), with email hosted in the European Union; your messages are not passed on to any other recipient.

You can ask for access to, rectification, erasure or restriction of your support data, and exercise your other applicable rights, by contacting the Publisher. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
